I’m typically an Irish exit kinda gal, but when you’ve been told by multiple users that your daily posts mean a lot to them, you need to give some kind of goodbye.

If my counting is correct, it has been 92 days since the pronoun tag shitshow. That evening I decided to make a positivity post in the hopes of bringing back some semblance of light to the trans (and honestly all gender minority) users on the site. The next day, the neopronoun shitshow kicked off. I again decided to make a thread expressing my love for the trans members of the site. It was titled “For every day of the struggle, I will love y'all even harder”. Well, the struggle kept going and my love for my trans comrades is at an all-time high.

If I wasn’t a stubborn bitch who believed that this site could have been something good, I would have left 92 days ago. Instead, I spent 92 days playing medic to the trans users who fought tooth and nail in a vain attempt to cut through the hostility we felt here. Frankly, I would have tried to keep it up longer but since I woke up yesterday more excited to chill with my trans comrades in an exclusive space than I ever felt logging onto this site (and, since just about everyone there feels the same), I’m calling it quits.

Now, this is the part where people typically drag up specific examples of why they’re leaving, but honestly if you don’t get it by now, it isn’t worth my time to try and explain it further. Instead, I’ll say this: your ideology is determined by your actions, it’s not something you can ascribe to yourself. I don’t care how well you understand the works of Marx, if all you do is put your head down and exist within the capitalist system, the value you bring to the world is wholeheartedly capitalist. So, I don’t care how hard you believe that you are a socialist or a communist or an anarchist, the cis users on this site tend to fall into one of two ideological camps. The users who have actively made this site more hostile to minority groups are reactionaries. The users who have sat idly by as this has happened are liberals. If these camps are what pass as “left” these days, we might as well [redacted].

To the reactionaries and libs, I hope one day you finally receive a healthy dose of self-criticism and quit being a detriment to the left. To the trans comrades who I don’t see again, my love will be with you in perpetuity.

Every time I read posts from this community, I learn more and more. The fewer voices from the trans community here, the less I will learn. The weaker we become ultimately. At least that's how it feels.

I know why you're leaving. I'd beg you to stay but you're not wrong to leave. The good you do and did will live after you. I'm so glad to have read your posts in the past. I hope to see your words in the future.

    Thanks.

This is succinct and elegant, I wish was that good at expressing stuff like this. A prime example of why you're one of the best Chapo posters.

I really hope you brigade this site extra hard from time to time.

During these past few months, whenever I felt especially dysphoric and self-hatey it was always really nice to check this community and see your positive posts. 92 days has been a lot of time to try and deal with this toxicity, glad you've found a comforting and much less frustrating place.
