Making papusas on my lawn and selling them for 3 dollars a piece to foot traffic so I don't get evicted.

My white liberal neighbor lady with an instagram haircut, "cool siiide hustle, girlboss!"

Honestly, I think I hate hearing people say "side hustle" more than the fact this is being normalized to survive in the system these days.

Because like, we already knew capitalism was garbage and trending in this direction so while depressing, it was on the horizon.

But seeing it smoothed over with the veneer of cool provided by appropriating more AAVE is an especially shitty twist I didn't anticipate back when everyone just talked about 'the gig economy' instead.

Now most people I hear saying 'side hustle' are predominately white and middle-aged+ and its all too much 'fellow kids' bullshit for me to handle.

It's gross because I can totally imagine people living in near poverty aspiring to get out to read shit like this not knowing the person who wrote this probably inherited more money than they will earn in their entire lives.

CNBC's audience is the petty-bourgie retail traders. I know this because it's not paywalled. The failchild's dad's friends are reading WSJ and FT.

I don't want to hear about side hustles until it means "second full-time 15/hr/wk job I don't need but it's fulfilling and keeps me busy"

Many Americans would rather work themselves to death than make rich people pay more taxes.
