This is ridiculous. I have had several real life arguments with people in my country in the last year because they choose to use a deragotaty word about the Russian people very much on purpose and are willing to defend using it no matter how much you call them out. They are proud of using it. I have heard people call for nuking the country, unironically. They are called orcs, like are these fuckers serious?!
My country is shutting down schools that teach in Russian and are proud of doing that, this shit makes headlines. The Russians living here get harassed and have always been subjected to racism. But these days it's next level. These comments and attitudes are out there for everyone to see on news comment sections and fucking family dinners, it isn't like nobody bothers to hold anyone accountable or dares to. Apparently the more you are hating on the Russians the better little national warmonger you are and the more bootlicking points you get. It is fully mainstreamed socially acceptable hate 24/7, fucking hell.
