    Why do they think the US has stopped sliding into fascism?

    It's not a good thing, but they're probably right that without covid Trump probably would have won... which is not a compliment to Biden and the DNC's capability of winning elections. Why you would want to preserve this country's political system is completely beyond me after all this and how the political elite are incapable of responding to an immediate crisis like covid (nevermind the lurking threat of climate change).

      If you are willing to let half a million people die, just do a revolution and a civil war, it would be better long term.

    This isn't even true because COVID helped Trump politically, people were scared of losing their jobs to the Democratic lockdowns and mainlined QAnon on FB for 8 months straight. Swing voters stopped blaming it on Trump once it hit 50k deaths -- it was just a natural disaster at that point. (God, that's horrifying.)

    Slippery slope?! Under trump the US was sprinting towards fascism under Biden it's at best slowed to a quick jog.
