The Academy's inability to recognize the greatness of Serkis's performance is unforgivable. All of the apes were masterfully acted, but Caesar in *War * was particularly astonishing. No human actor has stirred my soul like that.

    Honestly those kind of antics are why I stopped caring about the Oscars entirely. I'm happy when someone whose work I enjoyed gets one, because hey that's some nice resume padding for whoever cares about those little golden men, but I no longer believe it actually confers anything about the quality involved.
