I get where the first paragraph is coming from but the Tony Hawk games were always fairly punk and full off 2000s-gross-out-humor, in as much as a multimillion dollar product can be.,

Especially once you get to things like Underground or American Wasteland. This was adjacent to Bam Margera MTV-antics and Jackass, if anything casting milquetoast Tony Hawk as your posterboy would've backfired tremendously if that was it because what sold was edgelord / dudes rock stuff.

The whole premise of question 2 seems set up to go full lib "well maybe the exploited should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps like [one in a million case of an african billionaire I googled 5 seconds ago" but instead it goes full "human suffering doesn't register to me".

  • I think it's less culture war or "progressive" issues and much more rooted in being self-serving. If you're young, which generally tends to mean little wealth, even your selfish interests align with more leftist positions.

Once the mony starts rolling in though, your self interest changes though. I mean, at least under the premise of all the usual brainworms. They're the same people, just different wealth.

  • I'm gonna do an effortpost some day about how people try to mash together "thing I think is cool" with "entirely different problem" and the brainworms of that.

I can't tell you how many projects I've seen where everybody was fully onboard digitally archiving miles of files and then once it's done everyone is like "uhh so now what" because they didn't think farther than to do the cool tech thing and now they're stuck with 10 terrabytes of digital files that should've been thrown out in the 80s

I'm usually good on figuring out how data is valuable but fucking dishwasher data? The only thing I could figure out is like, household size or times of activity and you could do that shit with a power reading and nobody would have a clue. What's the goal here. Or is it just sort of "someone out there will buy it"?

  • Does anyone like these things

Yeah, nearly everyone with terminal car brain because their world only revolves to a large part around parking and strip malls do have that shit nailed down.

And it doesn't register to them how much of a fucking ugly waste of space this is because they don't see cars any more than you see individual blades of grass.
