Knowing how Cyanide and Happiness comics usually go, I was sort of expecting one of them to like the licking part
I've only played the original Freeware title. I can definitely recommend this. At the time I played it, it had an incredible impact on me, opening the door to the world of indies and the freeware scene in general. I can credit it with having a direct influence on me trying game development as a hobby. It's wild how amazing of a game and how much polish it has for a free game made in 2004 by one dude. 20 years ago!
... Also, I've been reading forum threads debating if this is a metroidvania since at least 2010, possibly even earlier!
It's not like this makes up for everything else, but there is gravity on Mars
I was not expecting giveaways on Lemmy!
Honestly I haven't seen much of this game (having a PhD to finish and all, I haven't allowed myself to hahaha), but I am hopeful that it will allow me to try to solve conflicts with diplomatic and out of the box thinking instead of just combat, and having it feel like I haven't cheated myself out of content: it bothers me that I can't avoid conflict in most games without feeling like I'm missing out, and Star Trek is the perfect IP to make it work.
Thank you for the giveaway! Best of luck!
Edit: Is this valid for all regions?
Not true at all, there were plenty of trains built on the Earth. The one on the moon will be far from the first.
Wait, Reddit is pro-Israel now? I haven't been there in a while (to be honest, since before this topic escalated) but that surprises me
How DARE you show me this meme when I should be writing my thesis
Thank you! I used to have more accounts on other instances for these cases but recently I have been loving this instance so much that I'd rather just wait instead of using my alts. So thanks for all your hard work!
It finally clicked for me why I love 5e's combat so much (as the only TTRPG I've played - still a newbie!), while other people always criticize it. It's because my DM is awesome and keeps including visual aids, descriptions, and ways to make the combat dynamic such as using the environment either against the players or against the enemies!
Off topic: that font gives me fuzzy feelings inside
*cannon
It's in the title of the post. Canon would be if something would be verified in the Star Trek universe. Which this is, sure, but think about it: it's much more likely to be a comment on the girth and power of Klingon instruments
I can see them just fine! Just to make sure, this is a Mastodon account, so I'm not sure you can see their posts on Lemmy
I'm sorry, this is one of the most amazing twists on this meme I've ever seen. I burst out laughing. Is it OC?
People have mentioned good options such as books, and they have mentioned hobbies, but since apparently you like video games, why not try developing some games?
It's free, just download a game engine such as Unity, Unreal Engine or Godot (my vote goes to Godot as it's open source but you can't go wrong, try whichever sounds more appealing and if you don't like one check the others out) and follow some tutorials. That's where YouTube can shine again!
It's a great way to exercise your creativity and learn some programming. If you don't like programming, you can join a team and just be a designer, thinking up gameplay concepts. Or the other way around, someone else can help you design the game while you code it.
Or... Maybe you don't like programming. Why not try making digital art? It could be pixel art, 3D modeling (both of which go really well with a game development hobby, but with 3D modeling you can transition into 3D printing) or just plain old art, digital or not.
It's just an example. It's amazing how many things are available for us to learn on the internet, you cá try anything you ever had a passing interest on. Always had trouble drawing? Go watch some tutorials and try again! Want to learn a new language? Get on Duolingo to learn some basics and then watch some TV shows or movies in other languages!
I know when you are really, truly bored, all of these will sound dreadful. But stick with it past the initial boredom and you will find something that will make you unable to stop.
Keep us updated!
If you want another answer, I've been happy with Megalodon
Nothing against the people in the original meme, but your title would be an amazing name for this trope. Well done
I tried it. Pretty cool, but the closest user to me was 270 km away. Maybe one day I'll meet her, but for now I guess it doesn't have critical mass for me.
Thank you!
