I mean the whole Tolkien is racist thing is kind of a red herring. Tolkien was writing from a strictly medievalist perspective with a strong basis in European myth. The orcs=POC thing is fundamentally misunderstanding the novels. Tolkien depicted the sentient creatures in his world as part of a divine chain of being similar to how medieval Europeans viewed the world. The orcs are evil because they were created by Morgoth, they’re essentially demons. There is no “orc race” to be racist against. The fact that they are depicted as “dark” is more due to the Christian symbolism that is so prevalent in Tolkien’s writing. The idea of race as we understand it doesn’t exist in LOTR, just as it didn’t exist during medieval times. The dark skinned men fighting on sauron’s side in the war of the ring are explicitly said to not be inherently evil, just under the influence of sauron’s literal mind control. In fact there is no “race” of men depicted as inherently evil. Remember that every “race” of men is meant to be proto European and the Easterlings and Haradrim, if we’re looking at the actual text, strictly are not analogues for Africans or asians. The kings of Gondor themselves were descended from the numenoreans who were depicted as being superior to other men due to their closeness to the elves, (which are never depicted as “white people”), yet were corrupted by Sauron, turning to evil and having their civilization destroyed. Nevermind the fact that Tolkien himself directly addressed these criticisms of his writing and strongly dismissed any implication that LOTR contained racialist allegory, the writing speaks for itself. So yes Tolkien is racist if you deliberately misunderstand the perspective and intention of his work.

I mean I guess it’s cool and edgy to hate things that people like without giving any good reason. Appropriating the aesthetics of leftism to score gamer points is also really rad! Keep up the good work alienating people from the community.

Get creative. Do things you want to do. Build a passion. I’m trying to work on my own DND setting and campaign. It’s not ever going to be productive or make value for a boss but it helps me get my mind off of “holy shit you need to be making more money.” Life is about good relationships and enjoying what it means to be human. Find comfort in your connections with others and the simple joys of life. A cup of wine, an episode of Star Trek: these are the things that will bring you joy. Go to the gym. No human being is more valuable than another.

So teaching people about the tragedy that most Americans have no idea about is a bad thing? It’s a forensic anthropology course. It’s disrespectful to use human remains without the permission of the family but how about death to the cops that dropped the bombs not random people trying to educate.

Incredibly dumb post that can only have been posted by a white person because literally every single person in mean girls is white except like 2 irrelevant characters and Dunkirk is one of the most mind numbingly boring movies of all time.

  • My brother went to one of these wilderness camps and the horror stories are almost too sickening to believe. They were forced to drink dirty brown water with bugs swimming around inside of it from the same troughs as animals. A boy in his group was raped by another who convinced him to try to escape with him and then turned on him as soon as they were alone. These kids were abused and had no resources to defend themselves from abuse and isolation. There were kids who had murdered others camping in the same camp with kids who were there for smoking weed. My brother still hasn’t forgiven my parents more than 5 years later.

  • I don’t see why animal “liberation” would be beneficial to humans or workers specifically. Take India for example. Hinduism is one of the world’s largest religions. It’s been around for over 2000 years. The cow and the products it produces are essential to many Indian cultures. As many of us know Hindus treat the cow with the utmost respect, yet they still use dairy products. My girlfriend’s denomination, Arya samajis, use a ritual fire called a havan to make sacrifices, usually ghee, or clarified butter. Animal “liberation” to many vegans would involve telling millions of people around the world that what they eat, how they worship, how they live their lives and take care of their children, is wrong. I don’t think telling indigenous people to adjust their lifestyles based on the moral squeamishness of holier than thou western “leftists” has anything to do with Marxism but yeah I’m sure in a communist world everybody will be eating nothing but bricks of tofu and multivitamins

I mean no not really you can’t get any decent money from a magic card unless it’s on the reserve list and try selling a fake card on the reserve list see what happens. You can get Chinese printed cards for less than a dollar so no wonder wizards of the coast people are losing their jobs left and right. This shit is almost impossible to monetize in a digital world. That’s why they want people to play arena but why would anyone waste their money and time when you can build literally any deck on cockatrice.
