One pot lentils and rice is a good go-to. Cup of rice, 2/3rds cup of red lentils. Rinse a few times if you want. Fill with water to one knuckle above the top of the rice/lentils. Cook til water is gone or mixture is soft enough to eat (prolly twenty mins). Then add a jarred sauce like korma or one of the canned curry mixes you just mix with coconut milk. If you're feeling a little more ambitious look up a recipe for kitchedi. As a vegan it was practically my Kraft mac n cheese

People seem to constantly forget that the working class is mostly women of color. "I drive buses" or "I serve food" would have been better

  • I don't think documentation is really necessary when pretty much all media in the US portrays white, young, thin, slightly athletically toned, clear-skinned, white-toothed, symmetrical-faced people with societally-approved matching gender characteristics as "attractive". Characters who exhibit those traits are portrayed/coded as attractive, and they are the people put in front of the camera on things like the news. Just saying "attractive" when talking about someone with those features is basically saying that anyone who does not have those features is inherently not attractive, when in reality many people have different opinions on what they find attractive.

I have a very good friend I've known since we were in grade school together who never had a partner the entire time we hung out regularly. He was just always a bit shy and awkward around women. I moved away from the city we both lived in when I was 27 and then about five years later he suddenly started dating a woman who had a son from a previous marriage. They've been together about maybe five years now and married for at least two. He's become even more of a leftist since the start of COVID (he used to be just a generally left-leaning lib type and now is a declared socialist) and he went vegan, which blew my mind because he used to always just eat fast food when I knew him. So yes, you can find love and develop a whole lot more after 30.

Citations Needed has a great episode about the phrase "middle-class". "It’s a capitalist carrot hovering over our heads telling us such things are possible if we Only Work Harder. More than anything, it's a way for politicians to gesture towards populism without the messiness of mentioning––much less centering––the poor and poverty." https://citationsneeded.libsyn.com/episode-91-its-time-to-retire-the-term-middle-class
