  • My brother and I (mostly him, just helped a small bit) used to distribute Anime this way. He'd buy laserdiscs of Anime like Rurouni Kenshin (OVA/Prequel)and Yu Yu Hakushou, then download translations for subtitles and time them on the computer, using a bluescreen pass through and onto some SVHS VCRs. From those two SVHS VCRs, he'd use 9 others to copy them onto VHS tapes for distribution via mail. He'd charge cost iirc, not making profit on it.

I'm 100% sure it would be considered piracy if the companies had a way to find out. Plus VHS tapes had piracy warnings on them back then anyway.

  • I don't follow archeology directly, but every couple months I listen to the Unearthed! episodes of Stuff You Missed in History class, which goes over the prior quarter's archeological news. A whole section is dedicated to reciprocations, because there are tons of complaints. UK museums still refusing to send back stuff stolen from other lands, items found to have been illegally taken, etc.

So it's more if nobody the people who run the place cares about complains.

That's why I assume ir was taught, but as I mentioned I have no memory of it, so it wasn't taught that strictly. I went to school in a county that had schools named after "Stonewall Jackson" and the like, so I'm sure biases were baked in.

Oh, I know that. I don't have any real complaint about the movement, was more mocking people like Alex Jones getting bent out of shape over ir. However, it's so suggested as protein replacement in futurology, and for a greener future. I'm all for that (and despite not being vegan, I support veggie protein/synthetic meat options too) but I'm just worried about diminished options for myself. I wouldn't put my wants over others needs though, so if it comes down to it having a smaller dietary choices is what I'll have to do, and I've done it before (eggs were a favorite of mine but I developed an allergy to them about a year or two ago.)

  • I tried selling some tech between jobs when I was hurting for cash. It was a $1500 camera lens, and lenses generally don't depreciate much since glass lasts.

Mostly got scammers trying to scam me, I gave up. Having expensive hobby stuff doesn't immediately mean you can recoup those expenses at will, and especially if it can help you keep your mind off of the homelessness it might be better to keep it.

Not that I'm sure it can replace, but which is more cost effective, this vr set you already own or buying booze or drugs to keep your mind off your condition?

What if we find gender fluidity interesting, but lack body dysmorphia(well, regarding sex anyway. I don't like my body, but that's because I could stand to loose some weight). I also grew up a bit on Ranma 1/2. I don't have a particular body I want to be in, but I think swapping on desire would be cool. There's no trauma or hardship in my feelings, just general interest.

  • I live in GA outside of Atlanta and rent is already tough. I've been to cities with not exactly amazing but serviceable public transportation (various parts of greater NYC and Chicago) and loved them. I've tried to use busses elsewhere, though it often meant 3 hours wasted to go to work, with similar time wasted after (hourly buss schedules and multiple transfers).

I have an electric car now, work from home, and try to avoid having to drive much, but there isn't much more I can afford to do atm. An bike would be nice but even that'll take money I'm still recovering, and some places I go to even just a couple times a month has no public transportation. I'd love if it did, but I have to use EV for now.

  • I wouldn't call myself a Trekkie, but I love Risa or RISA, or however the properly capitalized way it is. I'm not not a fan of Star Trek, I've just watched far too little to call myself a Trekkie. Excluding movies, I've probably seen something like 30-60 episodes of TNG and DS9. A few of Voyager I guess. Mostly what I caught on TV whole younger, and my memory of them in general is enjoyment. I've also read a book or two, but I was also reading SW books and definitely read more of those.
