  • not sure that “associating behavioural trends with pronoun tags” is a route we should ever go down,

Iunno. Dudes do stay on hella bullshit; especially white dudes-- but it's so much of a worse look when a mod staff that's frankly always given some hWhite tendencies (no, I will not forget the 🦝 discourse and how I nearly had to fight that mod fight twice) starts hitting everyone, not just the white dudes with accusations of having "cishet white dude" mentalities over shit that rly doesn't matter that much. Reads as friendly fire but cranked up a couple magnitudes; y'all just spraying into a crowd with that.

When I say 'white dudes/white gays are the weakest link' it always has something to do with formation-building, with interpersonal relations in organizations and the moments of action, et cetera.

...This is a shitposting forum; is shitposting suddenly the sole domain of cracker men? If so, we'd all have to leave except the he/hims.

If not for this comm I wouldn't be on the fediverse as a whole anymore tbh. White leftists do a phenomenal job at reminding me how little daylight exists between them and their full-fascist settler brethren

EDIT: I'm half tempted to figure out how to set up an instance of my own specifically for Black and Brown folk. Call it 'The Cookout', and have a bit of banning posters who express whiteness with either "invitation rescinded" or "was never invited to the cookout" as their ban message

  • I never really liked the dunk tank and felt it at the very least fucked up my vibes. But I can block it!

You literally just described where I'm at with the fakenews comm. I hate the comm, I deeply dislike its main moderator (I'm fairly certain I've gotten snipped at for voicing my dislike for that comm on my grad account by them before but my memory starts getting foggy going that far back), the vibes are rotten and as someone who values what few shards of non-state-controlled journalism still exists, I see that comm as little more than inconvenienced electrons that do the same job the Washington Post does-- but we have a community block function built into the site architecture!

So if comms are such a problem for people, why aren't they blocking more? I've had the whole of jlai blocked ever since I realized it was an instance full of french colonial-apologists; the people who take an issue with the burn ward can just block it the same way I do fakenews or jlai.

  • Seconding this take; waking up this morning to all this nonsense over what I was reading to be honestly kind of a shortsighted, 'wannabe-Lemmygrad' mod decision is... Nah, I'm not about it. I'd rather see the rest of the staff owning their takes, rather than putting it all on CARCOSA to shoulder the way they currently are.
