The shelter I work at serves dinner every evening, delivered by some service that works with a buncha shelters in the area. They always give us a list of ingredients with each meal for allergies, and provide us with a dozen or so vegan meals each time.

Today I looked at the vegan ingredients list and it included chicken. Fuckin chicken.

Bugs are animals too and I think it would be cool if we didn't kill them unnecessarily. Plants have protein too.

It sucks cause I don't hate him for it - most of my friends eat meat. It just hurts me to see someone so close do it nightly in front of me.

He talked with his boss who is a long time vegan and she said it sounded like a New Vegan issue, and it probably is! My eyeballs have been peeled and I can't unlearn the things I've learned and I am not used to coping with that. Maybe one day I could be comfortable being with a carnist but right now I'm too damn sensitive to animal suffering.
