Where I live we had a lot of "poor employer simply can't get applicants for jobs" stories and every single time you looked into it, not most of the times, every time, the employer

      • Was a card-carrying member of a right-wing party
      • Had not posted a single job online
      • Had never contacted the union to get in touch with unemployed members
      • Had never been in touch with the unemployment office to get in touch with people collecting unemployment

$10/hr is such a cruel joke. You'll never make enough to own a house, or afford higher education. How could you provide a life for a child under such circumstances? And since you're making money, you become ineligible for food stamps and Medi-cal -- programs whose real-dollar value probably exceeds your paycheck.

And if you should get into an accident, or have a medical emergency all your savings are gone and the libs will be clamoring to evict your ass and put you in those 8x8 corrugated iron cells they're starting to build across the country. These are incredibly dark times. I wish more people would take notice.

Honestly, if you're going to build a house and your options are corrugated metal or stucco, do the metal every time. So much easier to maintain and repair. More durable to the elements. Etc, etc.

But for some reason, somebody decided "Metal is cheap to build with and very sturdy so let's make tiny prison cells out of it" and managed to get that idea greenlite.

Like, fuck the McMansion shit but fuck these people twice as hard. It's like these assholes refuse to build a living space that's not borderline disposable.

"Listen, you're incredibly valuable to the company. We would hate to lose you. But we just don't have the kind of money to spend to retain you. We're a small business and we simply can't afford it."

"Ok. Would you be willing to grant me partnership status in the firm?"

"No. I think we're done here."

Literally a conversation I had with my first post-college employer.

The version I've heard is that "the left" is in cahoots with employers to "import" Muslims and drive down wages of white workers.

Damn i wonder if a $15 minimum wage would have had a role in preventing this crisis
