god i hate short beds. they make me think of those 8 oz mini bottled waters. they make me want to scream.

as an old from the time before, it fucks me up how many people justify the shrinking of truck beds to turn every vehicle into a jack-of-all-trades shitbox that cannot do any one thing well. except park, because they all have those parking lot camera systems now. that parking your fucking short bed truck takes a multicamera monitoring system should be a clue about how fucked it is. it's universal among the big 3. every truck is now a sedan with a short bed. it's categorized as a truck for fuel economy and safety standard avoidance, but bozos are like, "no it's becuz this is wut ppl want." as though the big 3 have ever once given us what we wanted instead of what would make the biggest pile of cash for the lowest possible investment. a little baby electric pickup with a regular sized bed would be a huge hit with tradies, diyers, and all the other forgotten gentle artisans of a world made by hand.

in order to even find a standard cab you have one option as of 2023: the Chevy Silverado 1500. a $40,000 truck the size of a shipping container with the same maneuverability and visibility. otherwise, you have to do some fleet vehicle BS ordering voodoo which is not something regular people can do typically and you're limited to giant trucks anyway, or buy used one from increasingly Olden Times. people ship used little work trucks with big mileage across the country, which exposes the lie of "nobody wants these."

just this morning i saw an early 90s ford ranger cruising along and i wanted to salute it for reminding me of the dreams of my youth.

I always wondered about those little bottles of water. Are there really that money people worried about having too much water and not being able to finish? Kids lunches I guess but my sister acts like her kids are orcas. I never see them without a water bottle nearly as big as the one I cycle with
