And the ones that are at least up to date( e.g Elon, Bezos) are too soft or delusional to realize when the game is up, Elon will likely prefer to flee to Mars and at best die of old age living in worst conditions than a middle income US family than to embrace socialism.
The moment they decide to flee to some bunker on an island is the moment they'll lose all global influence, chaos indeed but it is not as if anyone is going to be in global control.
The US is probably and hopefully the last empire.

I wonder if it isn't as simple as the US sparking several low level conflicts around the world. If they just increase the temperature globally, apply some pressure, weaker nations might feel forced to ally with the US and it's security umbrella.
