Cisheteronormative masculinity tends to reward performative stoicism, overlook toxic (aggressive, pushy, violent) expressions of emotion, and downright punish softer/integrative strategies for self-care in men. I'm guessing that's what they were getting at.

Mind you, I don't know what that guy's deal is and I don't like playing at internet psychologist. Could be he's heard that vulnerability can be authentic and, indeed, attractive but just doesn't know how to go about it. Or it could be he's weaponizing performative vulnerability to creep on strangers. :shrug-outta-hecks:

Maybe he's just been listening to a little too much Type O Negative while his wife and kid are out of town, and October Rust is just really getting to him because he has been alone with his thoughts and the constant echo of Peter Steele pleading, "am I good enough...?" over and over again.

        Please help me.

:meow-hug: Shit sucks, comrade, but we're here for you. I know it's not the same as RL relations, but we all gotta keep sane as best we can. :Care-Comrade:

Thank you. I was about 90% joking, but I really did pick a bad week to suddenly fall down a Type O Negative rabbit hole. I'm OK, just a little more introspective than I'm used to.
