These same people when I bring up the idea of not using cars: But I like having my car! You can't make me use public transport and walk everywhere!

    Most people hate car culture. They just think their grievances with it are completely isolated and in a vacuum, are purely the results of individual actors, and not part of a wider systemic issue.

      They don't see an alternative because nobody has built transit-friendly houses, or business districts, or office parks in the past 50 years. You legally cannot build transit-friendly cities in a lot of the country because of laws about setbacks, minimum road widths, etc.
