These same people when I bring up the idea of not using cars: But I like having my car! You can't make me use public transport and walk everywhere!

Most people hate car culture. They just think their grievances with it are completely isolated and in a vacuum, are purely the results of individual actors, and not part of a wider systemic issue.

They don't see an alternative because nobody has built transit-friendly houses, or business districts, or office parks in the past 50 years. You legally cannot build transit-friendly cities in a lot of the country because of laws about setbacks, minimum road widths, etc.

Me on the road: oh my gosh I'm so sorry. Please don't hate me. Let me leave 300 car links between me and you.

I love my car but seriously, fuck my car. Put me on a bus or train and let me sleep on my way to and from work. I don't even care if there was still traffic. Just let me not drive.

Is this the reddit/twitter thing of making up a person to hate? If so, congrats. You’ve brought the worst thing about the internet to hexbear.

How people are in real life and how they are on the internet are two totally different things, I feel like.

Have you never been in a car with someone during even mild traffic?

I make it a point not to get mad about traffic or people's driving most of the time, instead I just explain how traffic is literally man-made by poor designers. So Engineers are the reason everything is terrible essentially.

Same, but this takes effort (it did for me, at least)

Most roadragers just turn their brain off while behind the wheel.

I’m the first type but I would kill to never have to look at my car again

Never did like cars. People really don't know how to drive safely and road rage is awful. I'm luckily able to walk where I need to for work or anything else. Would hate to be on those long highways to get anywhere
