    There is like a 40% chance they do this to try to lock up that moderate vote. Higher if (when) Biden looses.

      It's definitely not. The moderate vote is pro choice. Banning abortion would light so many god damned disengaged centrists and liberals up, especially women, that they would start joining third parties in droves. They wouldn't fucking dream of it, this is core culture war shit.

        That Marist Institute poll from earlier this year found that 2/3’rds of moderate and independent voters in the Midwest favor restrictions on abortion after the third trimester. A quarter said they vote specifically based on abortion.

        They wouldn’t flat out come out agaisnt it. They’d do the flowery language like in the proposal. Say that it’s an important subject with points in all sides that must be listened to or some other BS Civility language they Love.

          I think they still understand what it would do to their base, and they could easily spend less effort protecting it, but they will keep abortion protection on the platform lest they be wiped off the map.
