Pick a country with longstanding issues of homophobia, the second they elect a left of center leader, suddenly all the homophobia in that country is the fault of the left

and any homophobia in the left is part of the left and has nothing to do with the culture of the country.

Strangely enough, a lot of leftists from outside the region seem to think Latin America is default leftist or something when it's anything but.

our countries have very rich socialist traditions and have been undergoing dirty wars for over half a century. i definitely think there’s at least a more active socialist world for most of our countries than what outsiders would be used to

I would say being a colony and its consequences plus default capitalism, plus racism are the radicalizing things

Being colonies plus racism causes a shitton of poverty and overall under-development, which are the perfect growth media for fucking anger that fascism can't really keep at bay cuz surprise motherfucker saying all the problems are caused by brown people doesn't work if the majority are brown.

Yet capitalism in all its avatars prospered nonetheless thanks to anyone really opposing it being offed or best case scenario ratfucked.

Looks like The Independent picked the 'story' up, as the media like to do with Twitter beefs / controversy since they're desperate for clicks.

Bryant met with Alvaro Uribe in 2009. Says he "took him to task" lol.

Oh shit, it gets worse: when asked about Uribe running for a third term a month prior to the above meeting, Bryant said, "Neutral. It doesn't bother me, if that's what the people want". Took him to task my arse.

"I would never vote for Fujimori obviously" :doubt:
