She also said that she wished she would've given her leaks to Ken Klippenstein instead of to Assange. You know, the guy who's currently in prison, being tortured to death for publishing them.

She also got fucking tortured and fined a quarter of a million dollars for refusing to collaborate with the US state against him, which I think weighs a little heavier than saying she would have sent the leaks to someone else.

All of that is true, and for that she'll always be a hero of mine. But it's also the case that saying that you would've prefered to give your leaks to someone else than the guy who's still in prison, in gruesome circumstances because he did publish your leaks, is a complete lack of solidarity.

      What’s your point?

edit: holy shit, did you seriously just repost gg’s attack on her in your own words?

While Julian Assange is rotting in prison, @ChelseaManning recently smeared him when he couldn't defend himself, announcing that if she had to do it over again, she would not have leaked to WikiLeaks. Maligning someone unjustly rotting in prison is not an attribute I value.

I mean, Glenn is just rewording Aaron Mate's tweet, which is a completely fair criticism. Just because Glenn sucks doesn't mean that every single criticism he has is wrong.

She was in solitary confinement facing daily fines for Assanges sake, I think she has the right to comment on wether she thinks ultimately it would have been better to leak the stuff to someone else. It's not like she's heartlessly stabbing the man in the back or something, did Glenn or any of the other people mad at her risk their life, liberty and economic stability for Assange?

Yes. Greenwald did just that when he published the Snowden revelations.

Also, he's being constantly threatened by Brazilian fascists for publishing the evidence that the imprisonment of Lula was based on false evidence and that it was a plot by the top of the judicial system in Brazil and right-wing parties. A personal friend of him (who was also a councilmember in Rio de Janeiro for the trotskyst party his husband is a member of parliament for) was murdered by a right-wing death squad which has remarkebly close relations to the son of Bolsanaro. Another gay member of congres for the same party fled Brazil because of threats he received.
