Just imagine if we didn't have complete understanding of human nature. We might actually need an age of consent :very-intelligent:

It's fundamentally contradictory to believe that somehow corporations behaving badly will somehow shape up and fly right when they all get unleashed to do whatever they want.

I love asking ancaps why someone couldn't just take your shit with either a ginned-up NAP violation or just pay the private police to do it for them - they have absolutely no answer other than "Well people won't do business with you" when that's clearly not been the case.

It's because they believe large corporations only exist due to "government interference" and that in their ancap utopia companies will be forced to keep themselves in check by competition. If only the government didn't exist then that mom and pop store could compete with Amazon!

Well of course they could compete then! It's not as if you can get discounts on the commodities you buy when purchased in large volumes, thereby increasing profits beyond the capacity of the smaller shops because of increased purchasing power! Perfectly competitive.

They start from the position that everything bad in the world is because of the government. They think corporations only exist because of the government and in their ideal society, basically everyone becomes like a yeoman farmer or someone who sells their labor but they make enough money to be comfortable because capitalism automatically just makes everyone better off. So not even a baby-brain understanding of how capital accumulates and concentrates even in the absence of significant government intervention, you know, like EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN EUROPE FROM LIKE 1500 TO 1850 I.E. THE ADVENT OF THE CAPITALIST MODE OF PRODUCTION.

Right? The City of London (not London itself but it's central business district) evolved as a municipal entity primarily governed by businesses and is one of the world's financial sectors - so basically a libertarian zone unto itself (royalty actually need permission to enter). It's the end result of small businesses accumulating capital and expanding.
