Are they fooled by the news?

I could tell you why my fellow Americans support Ukraine, but I know you already know why, and that your question isn’t an earnest one.

It so happens that, unlike most Americans, I have never supported America’s involvement in this proxy war, and have even gone to one of the very few, very small protests against our involvement. So calling me a simp is the wrong call.

For me it is not about supporting/agreeing with Ukraine. It is about Russia starting a war because they want to. I live a country close to the war, I don't want Russian occupation or proximity.

The news says they're the good guys and most people don't look too closely at the patches they wear, or even necessarily know what they're looking at when they do.

Not many people have the time, energy, or patience to keep up with all the in's and out's of geopolitical history.

So its pretty easy to frame it as "Big bad Russia bad man Putin invade smol bean Ukraine!"
