Title's kinda vague. I'm considering deleting this account and making a new one. Not because I said anything bad or am getting harassed. Just kinda feel like it's good practice to delete accounts sometimes, prevent oversharing. But I'm not sure if that logic is true. I'm just curious right now if the comments I leave have really made any impact on anyone. If this feels pleady, maybe it kinda is, I have felt a bit lonely of late. Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything if no one says they "know" me. not like I post a lot or have pursued tons of discussion here., and it's hard enough to get to know someone over an anonymous account when they're cagey with details. If you think this is just whiny, ignore it and the account will be gone soon enough. But if you don't, what do you know of one who drinks verdant tea before a crimson flag?

I have an impression, but I can't recall any specific thing you've said which helped shape that impression. There are a lot of posters like that, and I'm sure I'm probably that way for, like, most people here.

I'm curious, a good or bad impression? I recall disagreeing with you on the cause of overeating in america, but other than that like what I recall of your comments.

Vaguely good, really. I also like to drink tea beneath the red flag so your name just gives off good vibes for me anyway. Not so much a green tea person though, I'm more into all kinds of oolongs.

glad I'm in a positive opinion. I honestly drink more black tea than green tea wight now, and have been dabbling in white. I've had some good oolong but I get impatient for teas that need sub-boiling water often.

I recognize your username, and I'm sure I've upvoted comments of yours, but honestly I can't recall anything specific. I don't have a negative impression of anyone here, though, so you're basically just "one of the cool leftists on Hexbear" to me.

You have around 50 posts/comments in total over the period of 7 months, so unless you constantly post incendiary things, have a particularly memorable (for whatever good or bad reason) username, or have some "shtick" this isn't enough for people to remember. I'll remember you now :) And I get the appeal of getting recognized, so if you are into that just keep posting, but I'd also not bet too much on other online strangers making you less lonely. It's a very temporary high at best, unless you balance it heavily in favor of actual people in your actual social circles--then you can have it all! :)

I know for a fact I've commented way more than that, but it appears the comments don't stick around that long. Anyway, the point of this was just to see if I was recognizable at all. Following from the fact you explained to me how to become recognizable, I'll take that as a no from you. I'm not really banking on hexbear recognition to fix my problems in real life. I got way to caught up in other accounts, and will never do that again. I was just explaining what some of the underlying motivation probably was. I'm working on it in real life, but the main problem is schedules of my own and my friends so there's only so much I can do. Maybe the next account will post more.

Ah maybe it's a UI bug. I checked your profile to see what i upvoted, but the 1st page is all that loads. You're right about not getting caught up in one account.

yeah, you have to refresh a lot to get an actual idea of what your looking at, not really worth it.

Click next and then refresh and you'll get the next page. It's been a thing for a while.

I feel I've seen you're name around in comments making some dunks here and there that were fun. Though it takes me forever to know someones name even offline so who knows. but because of that info like seeing the same accounts stay around so it gives me a chance to actually learn.

Sometimes I wonder the same thing about this account here though I have fewer comments sooo.

I might just stay on this account for convenience then, if people have some sort of impression of me. Especially because it's more for my dunking capacity than any personal information which could get me doxxed.

yeah! I recognize your name from a short convo we had on the jane goodall thread a couple days ago. I'd be sad to see this account go, but I also see the appeal of the quasi anonymity that we get from this format. I kind of did the same, I don't use the same name I did on the old sub (my reddit account was waaaay too doxxable).

ah yeah, the one about skipping grad school. I'm figuring enough people can attach ideas to this account without really knowing anything identifying I should maybe keep it. Maybe I'll spin up an alt or two just for fun.

I like your posts and recognize you! I personally just switch accounts every couple of months so that I don’t have to delete anything.

I get bummed out when I try to find a good post from a ways back and its gone because the user deleted their account. You jump often enough and you don’t have to worry about building up too much of a post history. Win/win.

Maybe I'll just make a few alts with similar name schemes, that's definitely an idea. Anyway, Happy you recognize me!

There are several levels of knowing someone. One level is recognizing "they're a fellow poster in our proud posting army". Another is getting into a debate with someone whereby you see what they're resolute about. Another is when you keep track of them and can distinguish some of their character/personality from what theey post. A higher level is knowing someone well enough to coordinate something with them.

Higher than all of these is having someone be a reachable and dependable presence in your personal life. This might sound corny but I really want to reach this level with lots of people on this site. I won't say exactly how I'm going to do this just yet though.

A while ago I was going down a plebbit rabbit hole and ended up in some interesting subplebbits, I can't remember where exactly but it was very online and related to women's liberation.

There was a poster there with uhandle "GreenTeaApplePie" who made a lot of posts there. So, I can recognize your username here whenever I see it because its very similar to that one, and have always been curious as to whether you two are the same person. Are you?

I'm not, but I am intrigued by sharing naming conventions with someone else you deem positive.
