had a great time at the palestine protest, i loved all the speeches and flags and costumes. I got to take the amtrack and the metro, chigago union station was beutiful. I SAW A RAT ON THE STREET IT WAS HUGE. People at the protest were very nice I made great conversation. I got a new nice jacket and ate fried rice from a resteraunt with a michilen star! i had a really great convo with a uber driver. he was really cool, grew up in france, worked in geneva and all over south america, had an accent i couldnt place, some sort of west african maybe, he had many cool stories, he was also enoamored with the amount of leather daddies that had pro palestinain stuff on their leather gear, at a pride thing last week. It really goes to show how important it is for us queers in the imperial core to be loud and proud about our suport of the global south. he also love cuba and thinks cubans are the most reslitient and brave people in the entire world and he patted my partner on the back and told them they should be proud to be cuban. just a deeply cool guy who lives rent free in my mind, he said we were brave and should be proud for protesting!

Congrats to the wholesome solidarity march you've attended..., and to your new transit, of course, I assume no trouble must've happened to you for a while

      but on the other hand:

I SAW A RAT ON THE STREET IT WAS HUGE. People at the protest were very nice I made great conversation. I got a new nice jacket and ate fried rice from a resteraunt with a michilen star!

I don't know why you seem quite fond enough of The Big Rat and restaurant to mention that... I just find that funny...

Is it cuz it resembles this

Good stuff! Also, damn, the Cuba love is real. I remember when people hated 'em when I was growing up.

As for me, I, admittedly, left early from the D.C. protest because of how frigid it was, but I stayed as long as I could.

Trying not to splatter my brains against the wall next to me. The labor doom blew in hard this morning and the constant loop in my head is "lmao why are you bothering with software engineering this diploma finna be worthless in a half-a-year's time and then what will you do?" Feels like everything I've done to try and get out of section 8 was worthless, a waste of time, and the only way to recoup that wasted time is to just blow the candle out.

Ironic how my mother's favorite phrase was "there's nothing I hate more than a liar" when every elder I ever had lied to me bout this shit.

Oh I was hearing that even 10 years ago. "I had to train this [cracker-borne string of slurs] to do my job today" type noise. Shit'll go quadratic. Can't help but feel like my cousin went into the smarter industry and he got pinched for narcotics like five years ago or some.

Yeah but right now it's still nowhere near critical point

the avg salary for a programmer is still like $40k or even higher? Once remote work gets fully adopted those salaries will come plummeting down to $10k because there's hundreds of millions of people in Bangalore and Chennai who'd love to do that job at that salary

          Sorry about your cousin.

Oh nah, wasn't you. I've been grappling with this mounting sense of labor-based doom for the past year and change now; the semester's only just started up and the sense came back.

          That's good, comrade.

Yeah, you definitely have to "wait it out" when you get those vibes, but I understand that the vibes sometimes reflect a reality that's, at the very least, real for a lot of people (even if it doesn't affect you or you directly).

Do a couple more classes and make it a major! I don't know how minors and majors work!

      • Blep [he/him]
        ·

Majors are like twice as many classes as minors. In that doubling, all the courses that are kinda optional in the minor become mandatory. Scary things like differential equations and complex analysis become mandatory, and I don't really want to take them. In doing a minor i could just take the number theory courses and not bother with the other stuff.

Also another 2 which are Mexico political sistem and history of Asia but i still havent have those. Looks like its going to be a fun semester

You ever been into an area that gave you strong white supremacist vibes? I remember being interested in how some trades were in the US vs Guatemala and was invited to a meeting with plumbers. All were straight white men who looked like they would have lynched me if given the chance.

Are there any American poc in the trades who get that vibe?

I don't judge by appearances so I try not to fall into that rabbit-hole, but I have gotten that vibe (regardless of what I try to do) from people back in school and college.

And let me tell, they were definitely racist, especially toward me.

I don't know about the people you met in the trades, so to speak. Hopefully, for you, it's just a vibe and not an actual, well, reality.

(Disclaimer: Not saying you're judging by appearances and I get the fear completely.)

lol The clip with Destiny pissed me off (watch up to around 5:20 of the video):

I would argue that it's not far from people saying the same thing about BIPOC people in the halls of governance.

Frankly, we need more proletarians within government.

    That means BIPOC proletarians especially.

Like, the Latino/a community has a lot of rich people that are there to just "represent" us but, well, their backgrounds are rich or gusano or even lawyers, as was said in this video.

We need working-class representation and especially BIPOC working-class representation.

getting real tired of hearing white leftist fantasize about bullshit. no youre not gonna take up a gun for a revolution you can barley ask the waitress for ketchup. its more cringe then when chuds do it.

Yeah, honestly, you can't just start a revolution by telling people to essentially commit a crime or shoot police the next day and get them killed.

Stop trying to get people to do something you're afraid to do anyway.

Always have someone who knows Spanish to help with organizing; it's incredibly useful when organizing with proletarians.

Very mixed week. Thought an issue at work had been resolved, but my higher up is still pushing for me to give the coworker in question a write up. Not that what he did wasn't wrong, especially because it negatively impacted another coworker, but he did rectify the situation.

My friend/crush got back from work travel this week, so it's cool to see her again.

My dad has been in the hospital the last couple days and I spent last night with him. We often talk about how broken the healthcare system is in the US, but the experience from last night really drove home that point. Severely overstretched staff, patients, including my dad, going without medication/treatment for hours on end, limited number of beds leading to overflowing ERs. Whoever keeps on saying that healthcare is expensive here because it's the best in the world needs to be sent to a gulag at minimum. Shit's fucked and I can help but feel doomer-y about it
