I'm an otherwise healthy, fit cis male but goddamn I feel like any "oommph" I had before starting a workout gets vacuumed out. It might be motivation. It shouldn't be hunger. How do you deal with it? Roughly a quarter of the time I can "aggro" my way out of it and have a normal ~30m workout, but other times nah. Shit sucks.

Just do the workout whether you feel like it or not. Eventually if you don't often enough it becomes a habit and you stop thinking about whether you feel like doing it, so the issue goes away.

Also remember that it's better to have a less than perfect workout than no workout at all

the majority of my workouts are "stumbling to the finish line just so i can say i did it" but surely there are people who still enjoy working out, right?

If that's the case you should start with shorter or less intense workouts and build up from there. You should feel a sense of accomplishment when you're done and there's no shame in adjusting the workout length thats challenging but achievable

Are you following a program? You should be following a method that has been designed by a professional that will help you meet your goals. This could be from a trainer if you want it to be (I don't think it's likely to be important), but it could also be from a book or online resource.

Doing your own thing is just "exercise" while following a program is "training" that will leave you feeling accomplished as your performance improves week to week.

Discipline trumps motivation every time. Sure some days feeling gung-ho is a boost but in the end it's nothing compared to just having the mental discipline of saying "this is what I'm going to do irregardless of my feelings." It's hard to build up to that but it's the best thing for you. Hell that mentality actually helps motivate me. Like when I know I need to do this and I'm feeling completely unmotivated it kind of sparks up and anger that gets me moving. Like telling myself "Stop being a little b*tch and fucking workout. You think the fascists take off days cause they having a case of the blues?"

Also protein powder with amino acids. I had been having trouble with recovery and tiring out. Then I looked into it and I was way under eating protein and never even read up on amino acids. Now when it's time to work out I make a shake, sometimes a double, and start sipping it 30minutes before then take sips as I do sets. It improved my results significantly. It also energizes me fo the workout. It's way easier to get motivated when you perform better and know recovery won't suck as bad. It really helps with the "fatigue burn" you get at the later reps.

It's also why I get on here and post my workouts and shit. Like I force myself to do it so I feel even more obligated. Because if the sub knows my routine and I miss a day there will be an obvious lack of that post. Not that anyone would care but it's like I'm peer pressuring myself to do it. Hahaha
