He should not. There are a million legal loop holes that he can get screwed for or absolved. The prosecuter went balls deep with first degree murder, so if he has a good lawyer (he will) there's a chance it could be proved something slightly less serious and the case can get thrown(?). I'm not that familiar with US law but, he's 1. A minor with a weapon, 2. crossed state boundaries with a weapon, 3. Out past city curfew 4. Joined a milita group 'protecting property' agitating is not even in his state (I guess not technically a crime, but not a strong defense). 5. Even if he claims self defense from the first victim, the first victim (as far as I know) wasn't armed, and neither was the second, so he met them with excessive lethal force. 6. He ran from a crime scene and crossed state boundaries after being wanted for a felony... Throw in 2 murders/manslaughter... I mean this kid should be up the shits creek 100%, think about how many people get life sentences for fucking weed... But this is a cop loving, suburban white kid, thats trained to use rifles, it's different, he's a 'real' American.
I can imagine a few of the powerful fascists will stick behind this kid and try to turn him into idol, giving the green light for civilian fascist oppression through murder (does the job for them). But if they're smart they won't try to publicly absolve him until they know he has a solid case to walk free.
This case is going to be a shit show.
I mean if this was a black kid who shot some white protesters would they still be saying the same? I doubt it.
