Can anyone please explain the little primal urge in my brain that is making me "pro-Russian"? Looking at the pure facts of the invasion, it's indefensible and Putin is simply a warmonger. Also from a leftist perspective, this is just another criminal war between capitalists, which will hurt innocent working class people. Despite knowing all that, there is just an uncontrollable feeling inside of me that is naturally sympathetic to Russia.

idk I'm just mad at westerners for having an overblown response for ukraine while they don't even acknowledge their own allies/countries doing the same shit. Russia is getting sanctioned for this which is a far more fair trade than whatever countries like the USA got.

Saudi Arabia is doing far worse stuff in Yemen and nobody in the west gives a shit.

The US's relationship to SA should cast serious doubt on any claims of humanitarian concern from our government over anything or any region, but people still act like we're forever storming Normandy.

NATO is monstrous and seeing everyone you know root for them is triggering your inner lizard brain to jump to the opposite side of them

I think you have the right idea at leaving it here. I think there is something primal/natural about wanting to have a "side" in all this, probably empathetic brain wiring wanting to "participate", but you correctly identify it as something that you shouldn't indulge.

This is probably a less helpful response than others but when I have similar thoughts I just boil it down to me being contrarian, and I think I also currently am having similar lizard brained thoughts regarding these events. To me my feeling is the same as how I will sometimes secretly cheer for the enemy team in video games when my friends are playing and I am watching them.

Is it reflexive anti-Western warmongering? That was my instinct when this all started.
