Obama was the End of History president archetype. An administrator who would stay the course and not make any bold decisions. This was primed for years by liberal media, both fictional (Obama's staffers just love The West Wing) and real. This meant that any problems that arose must be the fault of bad actors (The Republicans, the Russians, the terrorists) and not actual systemic issues. What we see now is the afterglow of that, with all the "return to normal" stuff. Liberal media will treat Biden the same way if he wins: as a neutral administrator to whom bad things happen by bad actors.
