Remember that baseless genocide accusations are a known and well-established weapon of the imperial west. You should always be extremely wary and entirely dismissive of any claims of war crimes or genocide being made by the west against its' enemies and demand explicit proof before even engaging with them. There have been dozens of them already about Russia, without any proof whatsoever. Same goes for the China genocide of Uyghurs.

The only thing I can figure would be that the Nazis are apparently hiding in the sub levels of a giant steel factory, and poison gas would be one way to get rid of them without having to go room to room with grenades and machine guns and suffer enormous casualties.
But they could just as easily touch off some thermobaric bombs at the surface and burn up all the oxygen inside the structure if they wanted to kill everyone inside.
Yeah I agree, it doesn't make any sense. But what does make sense is Azov clinging to any excuse in this kind of situation.
Nazis getting gassed is just Nazis reaping what they sow.
