To blame the current situation on the contemporary left is to give a floating signifier around superficial political alienation more importance than most of them have ultimately shown worthy of having. It isn't even failure. You aren't important enough to have a mission to fail.

"you're not important" lol yeah, after skimming a bit I can see why these useless no-materialism PMC podcasters would have this belief! There's no need for all those big words, it's easy to see why these woke radlib are unable to differentiate themselves from neoliberalism, except by whining about how weak and powerless you are. (were ultralefts "powerless" when they helped the CIA overthrow Ukraine's government, and are now bravely dismissing and scoffing at the idea of anti-imperialism on their PMC podcast?)

Doesn't the tweet say that the contemporary left are worse than worthless failures basically?

Also I mean this is classic BMF wordpuke but what relevance is there in how "woke" these supposed radlibs are?

Actually which part are you even mad at?

DSA radlib Karen’s fail to comprehend BMF theory and impotently whine about about it. Probably because their minds are corrupted by liberal-soy propaganda.

      Woke: reading BMF posts

Broke: asking BMF to explain wtf they mean

Yeah to parse this tweet out he's saying that 'the contemporary left' is a solely cultural phenomenon with no connection to the material world (a floating signifier) that forms out of our PMC woes of being at the top of a food chain we don't particularly like (the superficial alienation). Varn's essentially saying the left as we know it in the west is just a bunch of useless college kids who are latching onto socialism for its aesthetic rather than having any sincere connection to the material realities of working class life and therefore is an insignificant if not fully useless project, so blaming them for anything is just ridiculous. It's amazing because this is the take BMF has 90% of the time but because it comes from the academic space that BMF criticizes it's being criticized despite being self-crit.

Black Mold Futures, a now banned account that posted weird rants just like this one in the same format and usually with some bizarre reference to eating bugs, yelling about PMCs, and other brainworm shit.

Every so often a new account pops up with the same kind of posting style of popping up every few days with a new rant, everyone assumes its the same person.

The author dresses it up in vapid pseudo-intellectual prose but all they're really saying is that leftists are all LARPers and it doesn't make sense to blame them for when Democrats lose because they have zero influence on electoral politics.

for the most part, yes. The actual power being exercised was wielded by international finance capital, intelligence agencies and armed paramilitaries rather than any ultraleft faction. At worst the ultraleft plays second fiddle to the capitalist news organizations in providing ideological cover for actions which are happening regardless.

the accusation is that leftists imagine themselves to be alienated from the political system, but do nothing to either destroy it or divest from it
