Doesn't have to be commie related, just whatever some cool desktop wallpapers would be chill.

.
like, i get that its art really, not wallpapers, so it makes sense for this guy to upload their work in whatever resoultion they like, but still, jesus christ
Ideally you should use a wallpaper that's the same resolution as the screen and lossless so it doesn't have artifacts. You're only going to use a single one anyways.

yeah, you're right. anyway ignore my folder of a hundred+ wallpapers because i'm indecisive and like having many Things :side-eye-1: :side-eye-2:
Oh rad that's the tales from the loop guy. A lot of cool stuff there
There's plenty of old paintings that make for great wallpapers. I've had Canny Glasgow for a while now, it's really comfy (well, depending on how you feel about rain). Here's another cool cityscape.
I don't really know of a good, central place to actually find stuff like this though. Wikimedia Commons does seem to have a ton of paintings, but I'm not sure how convenient it is to browse them.
I've got a bunch of vintage Soviet space prop. posters as backdrop, they're a cool aesthetic (insert Fisher quote)
No specific site, just search "soviet vintage space propaganda" and/or "retrofuturism soviet space" "soviet space posters"
https://www.artstation.com/jeffbearholy and https://www.artstation.com/nangesfg have some good stuff.
The Fr*nch artist Moebius is pretty good https://www.iamag.co/the-art-of-moebius/
You kids like Moomins, don't ya? https://www.tuomaskorpi.com/Moominvalley-Concept-Art
Some tankie bunny rabbits https://min.news/zh-my/comics/d0bb4b106292f7589cfb90cfc89a2d12.html
Nik.bot.nu
Yes I know it's full of *Chan bullshit, but it's the only backdrop site I can think of.
This lets me browse the contents of the wallpaper boards without ever actually going there??? This is amazing thank you! :meow-floppy:
remember when we were experiencing AI art mania? i've been using one of those but its pretty low res. the prompt was something about storms and its darkly beautiful
if you can find a site doing that in desktop resolutions you could probably make a super cool & definitely unique wallpaper
gonna plug this guy cuz he does some really cool work with computational fluid dynamics. gotta say the math-art genre is easily my favorite, gives me a comfy feeling inside seeing all that abstraction in a way that my lizard brain is capable of interpreting. :comfy:
I love あすてろid's stuff, though with pixiv you need an account to download full resolution. HAGURUMA-C has a bunch of soviet-era cars & trucks in beautiful landscapes (plenty of them don't have your anime girls if that's a dealbreaker). Might post more of my favorites later.
