You can if you suffer. 200k is about $137k after tax. Pay $1k for rent and utilities, $500 for food and sundries (no car or insurance because you're suffering), $137k - $1.5k*12 = $119k per year saved. If you're working from 20-30 you've got 1.2 million and that's ignoring that you'd have invested it while still working. Retire at 30, let's say you expect to live to 80. That's $24k per year if you were withdrawing everything, no investments, but since we're capitalists that fund is invested and we can expect it to generate about 7% ($84k) a year (though it will fluctuate wildly year-to-year and you shouldn't withdraw the full amount). So you get somewhere between $25-50k a year to live on.
The cost is you have to live like you're somewhat poor (probably want roommate) and you can't have kids or expensive hobbies or health issues. Tough luck when you get old and don't have retirement home money. This is roughly what my budget looks like except I don't make nearly as much money and have a cat that racks up expensive vet bills.

I was talking to an older relative (okay it was my mom, hi mom if you're a hexbear poster). My parents are very conservative so I've never really considered trying to push them left. Politically, I've mostly just stuck to presenting the facts that our system of government doesn't work and that police are incompetent people we pay to bully us, and that they basically never stop crimes.
Anyway my mom is upset enough about school shootings to consider voting for a democrat :liberalism: just for gun reform. You know how when you really care about something so you vote for it and then they pass a law. We've all had this experience, yes? She said people need to :vote: right. It's been 23 years since Columbine and my mom has now seen enough kids die to consider voting for a democrat. She said she's going to write a letter to her republican rep and demand that they change their position on gun control or lose her vote.
So if my mom has moved this far, maybe the riots will start soon. We already did protests in 2018. Remember that? People thought the March For Our Lives would break the dam. It's time for riots.

The way america worked for a while was "you keep suffering and then once someone above you moves up you might be able to take their place" for lots of white people. I wanna say for everyone but IDK. Anyway we've hit the point people are all backsliding and the suffering just increases.

It's emotionally upsetting and that drives page views and watch times, meaning it's the most profitable. That's why pretty much all news post-1991 is designed to make you mad, sad, or both. It's profitable.

Have in mind that, at the same time, many orders of magnitude more people are dying (basically being murdered by the government) silently from cancer,diabetes,all kinds of blood vessel stuff caused by junk food or water or lack of healthcare or covid and stuff, and that someone would very much want you to focus on shooting or Mickey Mouse instead.
