Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

So i just saw this bait or just standart Issue Purity Brained "Socialism_enjoyer" threat , but its closed allready

So some write on the DE-JURE Foundations of this War ....

    • Russia recognised the babytwin Republics on 22.02.2022 in their Oblast Borders

    • the Republics where under undeniable Attack by Ukraine Forces --> https://www.osce.org/files/2022-02-23%20Daily%20Report_ENG.pdf?itok=57816

    • They then Called on its new de jure Ally Russia to Help them , Russia send in Peackeepers while it also

    • Russia invoced Article 51 of the UN Charta , right to protect

“Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defence shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security.”

    • USA Vetoed the Article 51 of course , but its wierd as Russia named him as the Agressor ..

For Article 51 Russia invoced 4 Vital Threats to Russia and its Allies

    • The Bombing of Donbass / non Impemenation of Minsk 2

    • Zelensky claim to pursue Nuclear Weapons

    • US Biolabors in Ukraine

    • the Discrimination against the Russian Minority by Ukraine Goverment

Then Putin went to the Duma to get his Mandate , which is a Mandate for a "Special Military operation"

he then Acted upon this Mandate given to him by the Russian Duma.

A War needs to be decleared by the Duma , what was decleared was a Operation to remove the Threat post by Ukraine to Russia and DPR .. thats why its a Special military operation ... not a War ..

its super annoying to argue with somebody that argues in Words and Objects , not Processes .. "well it was Russia that Invaded" , like the hole frame is just "Good acts or bad act" , not reasons for ...

A lot of personal distaste for Putin himself is really tinting their vision I think. I don’t blame them for dislike the guy, but they are letting it cloud their vision of world historical geopolitical events effecting millions of people.

I got accused of “really loving Putin” and him being my pal a lot. You can see this really bothers them. I never said a single praiseworthy thing about him other than he is not a fascist and is being forced into a pragmatic anti-imperialist stance so I believe his statements regarding the stated Russian war goals.

I give it really annoying how liberals, being the fetishisers of personal responsibility and great man theory they are, reduce complex geopolitics to the personal quirks of a handful of leaders. They conceptualise this war as a fistfight between Putin and Biden/Zelensky and chalk every win and every loss up to their personal skills or shortcomings. Liberals completely fail to see this as a conflict between states, complex entities composed by many individuals and with internal logics of their own.
