The Kcnq2 gene encodes for the Kv7.2 protein, a slow-acting, voltage-gated potassium channel that plays a critical role in the regulation of neuronal excitability

glutamatergic drugs VS old anti-depressants which focus on short term neurotransmitters

The researchers then tested ketamine’s effects in combination with an epilepsy drug, retigabine, known to activate potassium channels in the brain. When the drugs were given together, ketamine’s antidepressant effects were significantly enhanced.

an anesthetic and anti-epileptic, chill ass regimen

By revealing a new mechanism of ketamine’s action, the study may make it possible to expand the use ketamine-based drugs. This, in turn, might help these drugs fully deliver on their promise of providing new hope for depression.

Idk, he occupied this weird area - far too incoherent to not be on ketamine but not quite incoherent enough to be on ketamine.

when i was pretty young i was a casual enjoyer of ketamine. i had a good source and would use a modest 100-200 mg every few weeks for recreational purposes. the rave scene was still around so mostly it was for post-MDMA funtimes. besides being my favorite psychedelic, mostly because if feels very mentally controllable, looking back i didn't realize that shit had pulled me out of serious clinical depression at the time. i thought my brain had just changed or something clicked on.

There's multiple ketamine treatment clinics in my city but insurance companies still refuse to cover it. Honestly i think it would be more affordable to just straight buy it from a dealer then go the legit way

Idk what it goes for these days but it used to be you could buy a gram for less than the cost of a used videogame (and get more enjoyment out of it, too).

My insurance company refused to give me ketamine treatment and now I’m on Prozac which isn’t fucking working, like all the other antidepressants I’ve taken before haven’t worked

Prozac fucked me up. It taught my body how to have panic attacks while asleep. Took it for anxiety and it just gave my system a new way to fuck with me.

The only thing I really have felt from it is a complete lack of impulse control, which has pushed my alcoholism to 11. Also I sweat like a pig at anything above 74 degrees.

Edit: The best thing I was ever on was Wellbutrin + Buspar + Olanzipine but it wasn’t good enough and had really unpleasant side effects so I’ve been trying new things but nothing had worked and they denied me ketamine

If fent wasn't literally everywhere then I would say you should just go find some ket, I guess you could get a fantasy test if you wanted, I think ket tends to be roughly 10-15 dollars a point, you could probably pick up a gram for like 80 or 90 though

i tried to resist the urge to post this but if you know where/how to get it it should really only be costing 30 a g max for the good stuff. if anyone is charging that much theyre ripping you off or being ripped off themselves

I never bought a gram of ket, I had a guy I would get a point for 10 dollars from and he gave me decent deals on lots of stuff back in the day. Usually pretty high quality too. I just extrapolated it out to the general, "10 dollars a point, get 2 free points If you buy a gram" that you see with other drugs like this (LSD, MDMA mostly)

I did it a long time ago, I would say if you want to go that route, at least have a close friend there sober to monitor you and to get things you need, and definitely make sure you test it to make sure it's not Fentanyl and that it's real ketamine

My partner was recommended ketamine after SSRIs, Mood Stabilizers, Anti-Psychotics, and even fucking Vyanyse did nothing for them. (Technically the Vyanyse just made them wired as fuck, but the rest literally had no side effects)

Vyvanse made me feel like a god but I couldn’t possibly see that as sustainable. I woke my partner up at 3am to tell them about a cool book I was reading and how it would be a great source for some paper I was working on

This sounds similar to phenibut, although it works on the GABAb calcium ion channels! Super cool that we're finding out this stuff, good to know HOW ketamine helps people.

i did ketamine therapy over an extended period of time with intramuscular injections. they even extended me beyond the usual routine, i did a good bit of injections.

i love drugs and i've done k before but never k-holed like that before. they just shoot you up and off you go in a trip room. they check your vitals and shit and whatever and then you vibe for a few hours and then they kick you out so the next person can come. i joked with my friend that i met god and then a nurse came in to tell me i had 15 minutes to pack up. what a weird experience.

in the end it did help depression for a few days at a time. in the end what really helped my depression was my material circumstances changing. go figure. it was fun for what it was though and i think it's promising.

psilocybin mushrooms work a lot better, in my opinion, but it'll probably be a bit until we get to where insurance covers that shit.

oh, by the way, my insurance is medicaid. if i had private insurance i would have paid $700 per injection. i paid nothing.

I think I'm in the same boat, I've done ketamine and other disso's and the relief feels very temporary. Mushrooms seem far better but I have a much harder time on mushrooms trips than pretty much anything else. I've been thinking about doing mushrooms more regularly and just telling myself that the difficulty with the trip is part of some kind of shamanistic purge because I could really use the relief and I've not had the best time with anti depressants.
