          death note is a very camp manga/anime about mind games and elaborate plans. it's been a while since i watched code geass, but iirc it's similar in its goofy mind games and plans and even more ridiculous because of the setting. i liked both, though i reread death note a lot more recently than i watched code geass. i can definitely recommend death note as long as you can deal with some serious misogyny, and code geass has less.

              do you mean the other way around? because a lot of awful stuff happens, but it never felt grimdark to me. admittedly i was in high school, but i don't think my opinions have changed that drastically

                Yeah so Code Geass is goofy and Deathnote is Grim.

                Both are pretty goofy though.

      yeah it's great, i watched it three times i'm not even kidding. it's good to watch in earnest, it's good to make fun of the camp stuff, it's good to even point out the dumb writing which there is a lot of. very versatile anime and a true cult classic. don't watch the movie though, it's crap.
