Iran knows the road to victory is creating as many dead soldiers as possible. Double edged sword right there. Americans do not have the stomach for mass casualties, but seeing Iranians cheering in the street after rinsing an aircraft carrier is gonna lead to mass calls for Brandon to use nukes. What a grand fucking failure.
wonder if american nuclear-powered carriers have reliable autoshutoffs in event of sinking or if the gulf of oman is going to be radioactive until 2200
Water is actually really, really good at containing radioactivity. That's why spent rods and stuff at nuclear plants go in massive pools, because water stops the radioactivity from getting very far. We already have almost a dozen nuclear reactors on the ocean floor from sunk submarines. So while it wouldn't be good, and debris from the carrier might contaminate some stuff, the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf both would be fine.
Evergreen reminder that the US tried to run a simulation of what would happen if they tried to invade Iran and they got so badly beaten they had to change all the rules of the simulation to just pretend they won. This was in 2002. Now, the US military has augmented their strength with checks notes the F-35 that can't fly in the rain, the V-22 Osprey that can't stop crashing, and packed with servicemen (66%!) who are overweight.
