I had a couple HP LJ-IIIs that I used to keep working because they were easy to maintain/repair. They were just huge, though. I got a new laser printer in 2007, which has given me not a day of trouble, and is a more reasonable size. I think that was probably the peak for laser printers; inkjets were already pretty sketchy by then.
When the price of ancient printers skyrockets due to all the new ones being "hardware as a service"d by their companies.
