It infuriated me and I went off (a little too much maybe) . Even worse with Ukraine and now China; "China is just as bad as the US! Putin's Hitler! Ukraine gives me hope! China is commiting genocide!" I've heard it all IRL. They don't realize how clearly they've been Psy Oped about China just because it's replacing US primacy and Russia because it is undermining it.
Not to sound extremely ego driven and "oh I'm enlightened everyone else is dumb except me" but it's hard not to hate people at times when these attitudes are so pervasive . It's pathetic.
