"I'd rather have a hundred Dunky's than a single Yves Guillemot (Ubisoft CEO)."

"If bigmode succeeds we all benefit...if it doesn't work...we all move on with our lives."

"If Dunky and Leah fail, it's only because they tried. I wonder how many people rooting for that failure, can even say they did the fucking same."

you can't criticise thing unless you've done thing yourself >:((

also we don't all move on with our lives, there's devs involved who are going to him needing funding and marketing for games that take a LOT of time and effort and if they get screwed over theyre not exactly just going to go 'ah well, nevertheless'

I think it's undeniable that the inherent risks of choosing a publisher will still exist with Dunky. And there is a particular risk that because he has name recognition, people may jump at this despite the fact that his business model, if it's at all clear what it is, hasn't been tested. But at the same time, bar the name recognition factor, this critique applies to any new indie publisher.

Regarding critiques generally, sure it's possible to offer valid ones and hell they may be impactful. But at the same time, its pretty accurate to say that social media often just leads us into solely taking part in a circle jerk of takes, rather than investing any of that time in coordinating and building toward viable alternatives.
