I got an actual direct phone call from some guy named Alan Cohn running for Congress in Florida. I live in California.

I asked him, "Do you support Medicare 4 All?" and his response was "we need to do incrementalism to get there so people don't get scared." I said to him, buddy, don't you think having it already for anyone over 65 is already incremental, and then he did the spiel about union members losing their "good insurance" so I hung up pretty quick after that.

Can't believe Bernard gave that schmuck my number.

I get an email or text message about some arbitrary deadline and I'm left wondering "what deadline?" since I never actually read them completely.

Ah, see I was super into politics as a lib, so I know exactly what it is. (Fair warning: this only makes it more irritating.)

Basically, campaigns are required to submit fundraising data to the FEC every quarter, and presidential campaigns with fundraising over a certain amount have to file monthly reports. There's no actual deadline from the donor's perspective; it's just about pumping up the numbers in advance of the filing deadline so the campaign looks stronger.

tell em that you'll donate if Biden endorses M4A or Stacey Abrams gets the VP nod.
