that phrenology dig is just a joke poking at your tendency to attach political ideology to cultures

i dont even know what your implying there, like the collaborators were a relatively small proportion of the population, and literally every area that the nazis took over had their own brand of collaborators

I guess what I was trying to get at is that a movement without popular support can’t dominate.

Ukrainian identity like most identities has shifted over time, but the national identity itself seems to have been born in the fires of antisemitism and nazi collaboration and never shifted past that. Just lurking under the surface due to the Soviet’s keeping it repressed by subsuming into a greater identity free of the problematic origins.

And look at the Jim Crow south. Very few people were riding at night yet it entirely defined in an inescapable manner the entire southern white culture. The average person just doing nothing and existing in the background does nothing to excuse “southern identity”. This is parallel to what I was trying to say about the ukraine.

Furthermore, I would argue that the minority of hate that perpetuates crimes against humanity (the American south in this instance) proves that any culture that doesn’t react with extreme prejudice to bigotry is damned.

Anthropological Calvinism if you want to meme at me.
