Probably January 6th for pop history, but the substation attacks in Moore County for more real/in depth history.

i feel like the fucker Rittenhouse murdering those protesters was the actual start, but tbh may be Reinoehl merking that fash was the real start cause fash been attacking leftists for awhile yet that was when the other side started to fight back. Leftists def are not really doing too much intense shit these days but I feel that moment was significant.

Still the Rittenhouse shooting def was a point of no-return that I feel shit has not de-escalated from imo.

Nah, the war will start when the states grasp on power fades. Destruction of infrastructure is a clear sign that the state can no longer protect itself.

The Floyd protests are one of the first clashes of the factions and the burning of the police precinct will be one of the first moments that the state started losing control, but if these substation attacks continue, then state power is going to very rapidly decline.

I consider that more of an escalation of a low intensity conflict into a higher intensity one, but it is legit if people just refer to the higher intensity shit as the war.

I think its a question of whether you consider shit like the Troubles or the Years of Lead as a civil war. I def think we are in that kind of conflict right now, but its def not like Syrian civil war intensity at this point.

Yeah, is not really gonna pop off until there's troops occupying the streets for an extended period of time. This chain of events with substation destruction has the possibility of triggering that response. The protests came close, so 2020 could also be a contender for the seed event

Hopefully there will be an American battleship Potemkin

Personally, I'm holding out for a War of 1812 moment, where the US narrowly avoided being conquered by Bob Ross.

I feel like it’s one of those things where if things do one day get to Syrian civil war intensity, our near-Troubles level might be included, but if it calms down it won’t be called a civil war.

I'd have to do a double take but I think Rittenhouse was a day or two before Reinoehl because I remember people staging in Clackamas dressed in Kyle costumes (purple glove, green shirt). What a weird and awful reality we live in

Yeah it was. Chuds were def emboldened by Rittenhouse, but it felt that shit de-escalated a little bit after Reinoehl went Dorner on that fash.

Right? What would a “burglar” be stealing from a power station they couldn’t get more easily somewhere else?

Gonna guess that a power substation has a shit ton of copper in it, but on the other hand it's probably not light-weight wiring you can just strip out in a few minutes before someone notices a fucking power substation has gone dark.

Not to mention fucking ripping stuff out of a substation sounds dangerous as fuck and something most peeps would say "fuck that we going to the nice downtown parking areas to steal some catalytic converters"

I have a shithead prof who gives me the impression people do try to steal the copper and absolutely do get electrocuted

What’s kinda crazy is that copper is only 4x the price of aluminum; I thought the difference was more significant. I guess substations are one of the few places you’d fine noteworthy quantities of either, but… yeah grim stuff

Yeah I don’t think it’s super common (has probably happened a handful of times in the decade he’s been at the utility is my guess), but definitely not completely made up

      “terrorists”

Gonna have to side with CNN on this one, throwing out the "T" word without having some solid leads is just going to wind up with innocent people getting messed up.

It's not that they should call them terrorists, it's that they aren't doing so. It's a real deviation from typical behavior and it has real implications.

I mean... isn't this what it should be? Instead of jumping to the worst of conclusions first and later, in small print, quietly saying "Oh shit, we were completely wrong with that initial inflammatory headline with zero corroborating facts."

Given the racism in the USA, it seems like a pretty good thing to be worried about.

Stealing copper and aluminium from substations is definately a thing. Usually low voltage. Those that try usually arent smart enough to isolate properly. Had a black handprint on the hv bus of one sub i worked in from a once was thief.
