I don’t know too much about Maoism admittedly but was thinking about this the other day. That it’s basically impossible for a revolution to occur in the US, even if material conditions worsen to the point where it would theoretically happen. I’m not sure if I believe that or not, but it seems more likely than not atm. And that revolution needs to happen en masse in countries in the Global South while we do everything we can here to make the US ungovernable to exhaust resources that would otherwise be used in fuller effect to suppress those revolutions. Is that kind of getting at the Maoist perspective of the imperial core?
So would a key difference be that MLs believe the imperial core has revolutionary potential? Perhaps taking it further, that higher communism can’t be achieved until that revolution in the core happens?
I moved to the UK a few years ago, and one thing that absolutely ASTOUNDED me is how pedo-friendly the whole place is. Almost ALL of the british women I know have some story about hooking up with a 35+ year old dude when they were 16, and almost all of them are cool with it, often proud. Almost ALL of the old bald dudes are constantly joking about how some random young girl is fuckable, and even it feels normalized around the house where I've seen MULTIPLE older ladies basically joke about how theyre "worn out" and only useful for cooking and cleaning. Its ironic/self-depricating, and theyre joking, but having to constantly treat your partner like a dog you have to hit on the nose with a newspaper whenever a 17 year old walks by... is fucking grim...
Not to mention: I've slept with a few british people and every fucking time its just weird. They always act like a 15 year old at a sleep-over doing something "naughty"... Its a very weird molesty vibe, imo ... The entire dating culture, even. If you're british, and looking for a partner, you basically just secretely start fucking someone in your friend group... treat the whole thing like a grand, important, dark secret... then slowly tell everyone in the friend group privately... but insist they keep it a secret, so eventually the ENTIRE friend group knows... but no one is allowed to talk about it publically because its technically a "secret".
Then after about 5 months of that, you just come out as a couple, and immediately move in together.
The whole thing is super weird, and while usually innocent ~ its the exact type of culture youd expect to arise out of a culture of secret child grooming and fucking.
I have NO IDEA what they are doing to all these folks at the fancy gendered boarding schools with the harry potter uniforms, but its no bueno.

You’re mom sounds cool. What I find puzzling is the women in my life are the ones that taught me about compassion and empathy. I often tell them these beliefs are because of what they taught me. Brainwashing and propaganda work though. And once people are comfortable enough they get stuck in the “well I did it so everyone else can too.”
