      Bougies doesn't understand that being poor means that you have no money. They think it is a lifestyle or whatever and that being poor means your investment portfolio is not doing so well. The idea that someone can't afford small luxuries like takeaway is alien to them.

    Urban living sounds terrible. I'm used to rural Guatemala with my stone oven that we use to make tortillas and other good shit. Can't imagine being forced to use an oven the size of a shoebox to cook food.

    A local furniture-seller-cum-influencer got featured in a local mag a couple years back. Literally talked about how she lives such an austere life that she doesn't own any of her own furniture, doesn't cook, and keeps her shoes in her oven. Not sure if that was meant to be aspirational or what, but it stuck with me.
