They legit think that Ireland is Israel for some reason

Edit: I think some of the early Irish nationalists were sympathetic to Zionism, but that sympathy seems to have been gone by the time of The Troubles

Poetic in a way. Israel is a tarnished blister on the "Rules-based international order" in the sense that the horrific violence that the global neoliberal system enables (if not outright commits itself) is witnessed so closely and personally in/near a "first world" imperial core country, as opposed to being simply far away in some shithole desert in the popular westoid imagination. Yeah, war and famine still happen but it's mostly in those places, as opposed to the civilized regions.

Other "disturbances" to the bubble have always been there (US-Mexico Border, Labor struggles, police brutality, Mediterranean refugees, leaks of American atrocities in warzones, etc) but, save for those closer to home personally, few are as blatant as the 500 pound, nuclear-armed, trigger-happy gorilla in the room. The US and its Circus troupe of "Allies" can try to point to the barbaric practices, real or imagined, of designated enemy countries as much as they want but, just like "And you lynch negroes" in the Cold War, one can merely point out the hypocrisy when it's this obvious. It's why "Whataboutism" is still a Liberal's favorite word.

Also, there are many MANY Jewish people that would really prefer zionists stop pretending to represent all of Judaism.

One time got to see someone rambling on about how "Um, acktully, the existence of Israel and the existence of Jewish people everywhere are one and the same" getting utterly roasted by a practicing Jew accusing him of being a heretic for wanting a Jewish state before the arrival of the next Messiah.

The absolute arrogance to speak for 15 million people who have been scattered all over the world.

There's been major changes in my lifetime for how people talk about Israel, and it's great.

There was a time where anyone calling for the deconstruction of the Israeli state would be outcast from society for being the most despicable antisemite.

It feels like the old guard of D and R boomers can't browbeat people into supporting isreal anymore especially young people and that's a good thing.

They’re also blaming American media and Palestinian propaganda lol. You’re telling a multi billion dollar media empire that colludes with the government that sends billions of dollars to a country with some of the most advanced weaponry and intelligence tools out there can’t out-propaganda some guys making scrap metal missiles in their basement?

Pretty sure saying that Palestinians are human beings is enough to be viewed as being favorable to Palestine in :reddit-logo: israel

    From the top comment,

Not surprising. The Palestinian movement has won a complete propaganda victory on social media, and it was very, very evident in the May ‘21 flareup. Many young liberal Americans who know little to nothing about the conflict now have at least a vague gut reaction that supporting Palestine is “the right thing to do.

This is comically so bad. Like I follow a shit load of Palestinian activists and a few Palestinians that live there and it's very rare if ever I see legitimate "propaganda." Almost everything is just posting pics of videos of what is actually happening there and not some bullshit. If these people genuinely think posting videos of IDF soldiers killing, abusing and hurting people is propaganda and not like just showing the reality then that's about as delusional and disgusting as it gets.

And the ironic part is Isreal puts out metric tons of actual propaganda every single day. Plus all the zionists demonizing Palestinians for simply trying to exist. We have laws in the US even about not boycotting Isreal. Like it's not even close to the same shit.

I am glad younger people are smart enough to see through all the bullshit but truthfully it's just not enough.

Well they still won a "propaganda" victory in the sense that all the stuff that actually happened is actually acknowledged by people, even westoids, globally

whereas that same stuff that actually happened is constantly denied for the west, China, Russia, Black people, in a pro-white pro-western way.

the main reason it's like that is because a lot of mayos don't actually see Jewish people as their own, and will not defend them against criticism like they do with other whites

Funny how they simultaneously take the position that Palestine both is and isn't another nation-state.

Israel criticized for actions against Palestine? "Israel has a right to defend its borders."

Someone notes that Israel did something that, if done against another country, is unambiguously an act of war? "Well, it's within Israel's borders".

Israel does a great job at defending itself, but if the only news you see shows dead and injured Palestinians, you are going to believe that Israel is the aggressor. It’s stupid, but unfortunately, the media here really isn’t doing a good job.

The hilarious thing is they doing the classic "They are just stupid then." turn.

Don't you need those people to prop you up an support you? Why not try doing more to convince them?

It reminds me of the same thing liberals did to republican supporters as the divide in american politics really grew. They gave up trying to reach them.
