People are so far down the ideological rabbit hole that "Republicans are Fascists, Democrats are Communists" is just baseline for a conversation.

And if you're not with my team, you must be with the other team.

Ah yes, vote shaming, works in elections worldwide. The liberal go-to strategy to push their mediocre or plain evil candidates into office.

Look at how well Brexit turned out!

Literally all it does is skew polls, which then gives the libs the false confidence they need to shame even harder

Is it so hard to make a harm reduction argument? Can the libs seriously not think of at least one single thing he might be slightly better than Trump at?

With a little naivete, sure. He says he's gonna protect the post office and obamacare. Those are both generally popular and help people in their daily lives. He won't actively defend neo-nazis. There. Is that compelling enough reason to vote for him? Probably not to anyone on this site, but it's a straightforward and easy way to advocate for your candidate.

But loyalty is the point. They don't need to kowtow for our votes, we need to be begging them to make Orange Man stop.

I think the naivete is both the crux & downfall of the argument though. If they are naive enough to believe it they'd make the argument. The reason they don't is if they put forward specific ways he's better we have 30 years of history demonstrating he's probably not.

edit: I do not think they allow themselves to be aware of their reasons, I just thought it was interesting to look at.

        Honestly, yes.

Trump's policies are meaningfully worse than Biden's on pretty much every front - environmental, immigration, tax policy, foreign policy, policing, infrastructure, disaster relief.

And a new divided government where the GOP tries to gridlock Congress for another four years is preferable to the Pelosi/McConnell rubber stamp.

I'll grant that a divided government would be better.

As far as the restI think they've done everything they can to signal that the best you can expect from them is a George W. Bush administration and I don't understand how you could believe otherwise.
