Gremlins and Gremlins 2 was what immediately came to my mind as well. My wife had never seen either and we watched both in a row several years back. I think New Batch just gets more relevant as time goes on.

Been on an Aliens kick lately so the difference between 1, 2, and 3 comes to mind. A horror movie to action blockbuster sequel to low-key almost indie like horror again. I know a lot of fans hated 3 but I wonder if some fans of 1 didn't want a sequel or thought that 2 was action schlock.

Kind of the same deal with Terminator and T2: Judgment Day. The first film had a lot more tension and was more low-key/subdued in its presentation (at least for most of the movie) making it closer to a thriller/horror film. T2 pretty much starts off as an action blockbuster popcorn flick and stays there.

    C.H.U.D.

    C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D.

C.H.U.D. has John Heard, Daniel Stern, and a young John Goodman in a small role. It's about Republican cannibals in the New York City sewers.

The sequel is kinda like Weekend At Bernie's or a teen zombie comedy, but with a C.H.U.D. that is released from a lab and turns people into other C.H.U.D.s.
