Love the bootlickers in the various :reddit-logo: threads saying "oh the cop was obviously trying to get the scooter off the road or to the exit since they're illegal to drive on NYC highways" or "he shouldn't even be there on a small unregistered/unlicensed moped"

Motherfucker no they're not illegal on highways! You got the clairvoyance to tell whether this dude was registered either? Fuck, the immediate deference to any decision made by a pig is sickening - any infraction is apparently justification enough for a cop to decide you don't get to live any more.

Someone in the thread mentioned that (not sure how accurate this is) calling 311 will mean your request will get to the civilian review board whereas with 911 the cops can throw it away.

This is the bread and butter for attorneys :saul-stare:

Pursuit without a siren and/or lights is guaranteed dismissal and 200 bucks for two hours of your time at most

Why is it that our so-called "social betters" tend to be complete psychopathic manchildren?

I believe it's as simple as the rules encouraging and rewarding exactly that, normalized more over time because such people then write amendments of the rules.

Not super related, but I saw a video of someone arguing lane splitting and riding on the shoulder on a motorcycle should be legal because 'being side swiped is the most survivable accident to have' but this video shows the flaw in that logic

In the Netherlands, low powered motorcycles and scooters are allowed to use (some) intercity bikepaths to keep them off highways as much as possible.

Lane splitting is safer for motorcycles (less than 30 mph) in places that have allowed it, but because rear end collisions are so common and dangerous for motorcycles. Helps traffic too because it's basically an extra lane

I wouldn’t do it though in all but the slowest traffic there’s some fucking weirdos out there that would throw a door open on you or something and people constantly change lanes without signaling or looking

Yeah riding a motorcycle is already scary, but you're supposed to do it going slow and while traffic is going slow, which should help

Okay the video keeps hijacking my screen for over 10 seconds every time it’s on the page, and this is on front page so it’s constantly hijacking my screen
