I just started playing, and I'm trying to avoid looking up too much stuff beyond a basic beginner's guide because to me, in a survival game, the learning curve is a key element of the experience.

HOWEVER, my lil' guy (Grum Dugly is his name) keeps getting queasy > nauseous > sick > dead, and I don't understand why. When I look it up, they say to solve the cause of the illness, stay well fed, get lots of rest. So, I hole up in a house, I eat lots of food, I sleep whenever I'm able to, one time even with sleeping pills... but the illness just continuously gets worse.

I'm not eating rotten food, and I'm not just hanging out around corpses either. I did give my dude the weak stomach trait, but I was told that wouldn't cause issues if I wasn't eating rotten food. Is that untrue?

Please help Grum Dugly, the apocalypse needs his mullet-bouffant.

Lacerations are 25% chance to cause Z virus. Scratches less. You need to cover up more and essentially NEVER get into the scenarios that are causing you these injuries. Think of life as over if you so much as get a scratch from a zombie. That's how much you want to be avoiding that.

Turn on target highlight in the menus, it will make your close combat easier because you'll be able to judge range to zombies more confidently.

Don't open doors without a weapon ready.

Once you get the hang of it, complacency is what will get you killed 9/10 times.
